Videos.  Once reserved for either something to be seen on television, or to be viewed online, engineered by those big brands with just as big a budget.Today, with all the new avenues, above and beyond YouTube, it may be the best social marketing tactic for your business. Remember when we used to click on the ad for the movie trailers? Think of the audience that alone reached, and that was before there were as many platforms as there are today. Today, with the ease of user friendly applications to record and upload, everyone’s creative juices can be displayed.

Today, with all the new avenues, above and beyond YouTube, it may be the best social marketing tactic for your business.  Remember when we used to click on the ad for the movie trailers?  Think of the audience that alone reached, and that was before there were as many platforms as there are today.  Today, with the ease of user friendly applications to record and upload, everyone’s creative juices can be displayed.

However, the question remains, why is it so popular?  Is it just because of the ease of use?  The internet and its long reaching fingers tickling our fancies?  Or the fact that we are all so busy that our attention spans have become so brief?  Probably all of those things, in fact, have contributed to the “immediate need and gratification” of today’s culture.  Think about everything you do in a day, and how much of a day you manage from your mobile phone?  So the shorter the content, and the easier to view and consume while on the move is better.  This is where video comes into play.

What’s right for me?  To answer that it depends on your business, or your angle and what you are trying to convey.  Some people want to use the videos to educate others, advertise an event (or themselves), or release a new product even.

Consider the platforms and what they offer as well.  There is the traditional YouTube.  And then the most popular, Facebook, allows one to post 2-3 minute videos.  Google+ allows for about the same amount of time in news feed videos.  Instagram allows for 15 second videos and Vine, 6 seconds.  For the professional that would like to advertise themselves, LinkedIn allows for the Professional Portfolio video.  Pinterest, not to be outdone, allows for videos to be “pinned”.

Once you’ve settled on which platform you’d like to use, there are many tools that have been developed to make even the most novice individual appear technologically savvy.  For the beginner, think about using Instagram, as there is a built-in video tool.  You are able to film in sections and then edit those sections together to create a professional product.  Likewise, Instagram has a tool that has made condensing videos easy.  Hyperlapse allows one to take long videos and condense them in a speedy mode format.  In addition, there are several apps out there for creating and enhancing videos.  Check out Flipagram, Cinemagram, or Kinemaster – all offer different tools to help edit videos.

Finally, depending on your business and the time you have to offer, remember there are professionals that can help you spotlight your business.  Adzory is a full service digital media company, aimed at telling Your Ad Story – YOUR Story.  The way you envision it.
